Whether you’re a seasoned sneakerhead, or new to collecting shoes, chances are that at some point over the past year or so an A Ma Maniére x Jordan collaboration has caught your eye. Having previously worked with adidas, the Atlanta-based boutique entered into a partnership with Jordan Brand at the start of 2021, and the sneaker world hasn’t looked back since.
The store’s name is actually translated as “My Way” in French, which seems appropriate given that the stories behind the collaborations are usually informed by founder James Whitner’s personal life experiences. This deep storytelling, combined with AMM’s high-end positioning and minimal aesthetic has led to some of the most sought-after Jordan collabs going, and there are plenty on the way for the second half of 2022 as well.
With some of these pairs sitting amongst members of The Sole Supplier team’s top Jordans ever, we thought it would be fun to rank all the A Ma Maniére x Jordan collabs that have been revealed so far. So, read on to find out which pair came out on top, and let us know if you agree with us over on Twitter!
To kick things off, we’re going to start with the upcoming A Ma Maniére Air Jordan 12. This hasn’t actually been officially unveiled, so our feelings could change, but right now we’re going to pop it in at number five. Rumoured to be releasing in two colourways, mock-ups show the AMM x Jordan 12 to have white or black leather uppers that give way to snakeskin-style mudguards in the brand’s signature burgundy hue. Rumoured to drop in women’s-exclusive sizing later this year, keep it locked for more info as it comes in.
Ah, the Air Jordan 2. The model has seen quite a push this year, acting as the focus for quite a few collabs, but although it has its place in sneaker history, it’s definitely not as popular as some other Jordan silhouettes. AMM’s take on the shoe did manage to elevate it to new levels though, packing the pair with premium details including cracked leather uppers, waxed laces, and a snakeskin midsole. The overall vintage look paid perfect homage to the sneaker’s heritage, even if it doesn’t take our top spot right here.
There’s a new kid in town, and we can’t wait to meet them. The AMM x AJ4 has certainly had sneakerheads talking over the past few weeks, and now in-hand images are starting to emerge ahead of the release. Whilst the original mock-up saw the shoe take on a white base with “Violet Ore” details, the actual leaked images show that the shoe will in fact see a muted purple hue appear all over, whilst black details and a vintage-style yellowed midsole complete the design. If these are on your radar, then be sure to hit the link to set a release reminder, as these will sell out super-quick!
We have to say, the AMM Air Jordan 1 High is one super-clean sneaker, and a couple of members of The Sole Supplier team were quick to pick this up when it dropped. Starting with a soft suede base in the perfect off-white hue, the sneaker was studded with luxe-looking details such as a snakeskin Swoosh and silky quilted liners. Aged details gave the shoes a vintage vibe and inspirational quotes were concealed on the inner part of the ankle flaps for a cute, branded touch.
So, here it is – our favourite A Ma Maniére collab to date: the Air Jordan 3. After many delays, the hotly anticipated sneaker finally launched in May 2021, and honestly although the efforts since have been strong, this still takes the top spot. Crafted from premium tumbled leather and adorned with perfectly placed hints of suede, the white and grey sneaker also featured co-branding hits and came packed in special-edition packaging.
This pair also came with quite the backstory – the Jordan 3 was reportedly the first Jordan bought for James Whitner by his mother, and the collaboration was dedicated to women, arriving in women’s-exclusive sizing and a neutral colour palette with no pink in sight. With all this in mind, this might not just be our top AMM collab, but potentially one of our favourite Jordan 3s ever.
