The following 12 trainers show that you really can’t predict sneaker trends. Just because a trainer is getting hyped-up across social media, it doesn’t mean it will sellout. Far from it as restocks are now much easier to come by. And let’s face it, no one likes to see a re-seller making money.
Thankfully, the recent releases below would definitely be considered an L for those who bought purely to make a profit.
There was vastly more stock for the Yeezy 350 White than any previous colourway. Millions were confirmed to launch yet that didn’t stop re-sellers from thinking they’d make a quick buck. Not surprisingly, these are now selling across eBay for retail!

Re-sellers can be forgiven for thinking these would be profitable. After all, the previous two collaborations from Skepta were quick to sellout. This static-printed Air Max Deluxe wasn’t quite as popular and it looks like people are returning sizes as this shoe was the most posted restock last month via @thesolerestocks.
A ton of Air Max 98s released this year as part of the 20th anniversary revival. Some of those are commanding steep resell prices such as the iconcic ‘Gundam‘. But this stealthier colourway is somehow still available. The demand for these at the time of launch was insane which makes it all the more surprising that there not yet deadstock.
Available at Luisa Via Roma
One of several hyped Yung 1s in the last several months and arguably the cleanest of the bunch. Whilst the all-white theme might be difficult to justify during the winter months, surely the dad-shoe inspired upper makes them a must cop?
With a retail price tag of £250, the scope for making profit on these is greatly reduced. Whilst that global restock did sellout, it would appear many were deterred by the cost. These are available for a little over retail on eBay meaning some re-sellers are losing out considering fees and shipping.

Many were expecting a difficult cop and they were right to be concerned as these instantly sold-out via Nike UK. Thankfully, a full size returned this week which means you needn’t trawl the listings on eBay.
ACRONYM founder Errolson Hugh sent shock waves into the sneaker world with his announcement of another Presto Pack. Three styles arrived with eye-popping appeal, many launching via raffle only. Thankfully, for those who missed out, these keep getting restocked!
Packer Shoes delivered a striking transformation of the contemporary EQT 91/18. Despite those hairy suede uppers and the autumnal colour scheme, it seems these went largely unnoticed. Many re-sellers who picked these up will likely have to return them.
If this same shoe launched this time last year it would no doubt be selling for more than triple on resell platforms. Whilst the hype for Boost isn’t what it was, you’d still expect mad hype for such a striking duo. Foot Locker UK is also the only stockist to launch the Ultra Boost Mid Confetti Pack.

Two camo-covered Air Max 95 exclusives arrived in limited quantities earlier this year. Whilst some sizes are no longer available, there’s still a good selection across UK and European retailers.
One of the few releases from Off-White x Nike that isn’t commanding eye-watering resell prices. Both are available in plenty of sizes across eBay for only a little over the retail price.

A brand-new silhouette from Pharrell Williams which combines the comfort of the Ultra Boost with the bold style of his previous collabs. Three colourways are available in both mens and womens sizes.
