Salehe Bembury’s presence within the footwear industry is not to be sniffed at. Having played a fundamental role in the early Yeezy days, the designer went on to run the footwear design department at Versace, before working with the likes of New Balance and Crocs and embedding himself further into the culture. Having recently been announced as the Creative Director of Crocs Pollex line, Bembury is continuing on his collaboration spree, this time linking up with Boston’s own NB again, and teasing his latest efforts on a trip to Paris Fashion Week.
Highlighted over on his Instagram, the Salehe Bembury x New Balance 1906R takes on a gradient effect across the upper, marking a new look for the techy-looking silhouette. Here, a bright yellow toebox fades into a fiery red heel, while silver overlays and a silver cage add extra retro flair. Underfoot, the pair comes equipped with its usual N-ERGY boosted sole unit, which comes painted in metallic silver to match the aforementioned detailing.
Right now, it's still TBC as to whether this pair is a collaborative effort, but the never-before-seen pairs were pictured on both Bembury’s feet, and in his footwear-only suitcase at the event, so it's safe to speculate that a Salehe Bembury 1906R could well be on the way. In the meantime, stay locked to The Sole Supplier for more news as it comes in, and check out Crocs’ collab with MSCHF that also surfaced last week.
