Low profiles are getting an upgrade this autumn/winter season. Forget Sambas and Speedcats, we’re now entering new realms. Skate shoes are back (big up Puma Suedes and Vans), climbing shoes are in, retro runners are in, and so are boxing shoes.

If you thought you had retired your Converses and Vans from the Tumblr age, think again. Canvas sneakers are creeping up into the culture, we’ve been seeing the new Vans Pearlized collection everywhere, as well as Vans Classics and high-top Chuck Taylors.

New Balance has been cooking up hybrid designs that blur the lines between formal shoes and sneakers. From the brand that brought you the snoafer, New Balance has now come out with the 1890A, aka the “snoccasin”, ensuring that we’re looking elevated without being uncomfortable.

Every year, come autumn, Gore-tex pieces become the main characters. It’s truly the time for waterproof jackets, hiking gear and Salomons to shine. And this year, we have a new XT in town: Salomon’s new XT-Evo dropped just a week ago. Considering the generational run that Salomon has had with previous XT silhouettes (such as the XT-6 and the XT-Whisper), we might be looking at the next it-hiking shoe.

We didn’t have Glasto this summer, so wellies are coming in full force for autumn. With Scandi brand Rains new venture into Wellington boots and the new Hunter x Ganni leopard print Wellies collaboration, we’re in for a rainproof season.
