Sneaker advertisements back in the day really went above and beyond to promote the product, and for this reason alone plenty of images of the original ads are still circulating today. Think memorable captions and eye-catching images and you’re already on the right track. Nike in particular was famed for these revolutionary marketing stunts, but other brands such as adidas, Puma and Reebok also made memorable efforts.
With the vintage trend more popular than ever, modern-day sneakerheads are starting to pay more attention to these retro sneaker adverts. Reputable sneaker magazine Sneaker Freaker was obviously keeping a close eye on this story, as the mag has just published a 720 page archive of legendary sneaker adverts that contains over 900 images!
The epic hardcover book is an incredible source of sneaker knowledge and features 13 different brands: adidas, ASICS, Brooks, Converse, Jordan Brand, LA Gear, New Balance, Nike, PONY, PRO-Keds, Puma, Reebok and Saucony. There’s plenty of ads to get stuck into including iconic moments such as the original Air Jordan campaigns, Nike ACG efforts and even New Balance’s legendary advertorials that have recently been referenced by Aime Leon Dore.
