Stone Island Present Prototype Research_Series 05 at Milan Design Week

Following the release of its Shadow Project FW21 collection last month, Stone Island is back and this time continuing on with its experimental Protoype_Research Series. Stone Island's Prototype_Research Series 05 showcases the brand's latest technical innovations and aims to utilise techniques not yet applicable at an industrial scale.

For the unfamiliar, Stone Island's Prototype_Research Series began back in 2016 with a jacket that boasted a lasered design atop a liquid reflective base. Since then the brand has gone on to produce a total of 5 more projects with the latest focusing on the process of copper oxidisation.

The trench coat arrives with a classic Stone Island Raso cotton construction bonded with a nanometric copper layer. Through the copper's natural oxidation process, each jacket will develop a unique and aged appearance over time, dependent on use and the conditions it's exposed to. The amount of humidity and carbon dioxide will be the biggest factor in deciding how your jacket evolves.

The full collection is on show now at Milan Design Week and will be dropping at some point in the future. Previous Prototype_Research collections have been limited to as little as 50 pieces, so we're predicting this one is going to be a tough cop for any eager buyers.
