Stone Island x New Balance 574 Ghost: A Study in Tonal Precision

Stone Island and New Balance have returned to familiar ground with the release of the 574 Ghost, a capsule that demonstrates both brands’ shared focus on material innovation and understated design. Launching 23 September 2025, the collection will be available exclusively through Stone Island channels including select stores and via registration on the My Stone Island platform.

The three-shoe series reinterprets the classic New Balance 574 through the lens of Stone Island’s Ghost diffusion line. The Ghost Collection, as it is more commonly known, started in 2011 and focuses on a more minimal aesthetic. Based on the concept of ‘urban camouflage’, the iconic badge also blends in within the monochromatic scheme of each garment.

Dropping as part of Dover Street Market London Fashion Week efforts, the collaboration borrows from both British and high fashion cuture.

Presented in “Dark Brown”, “Navy”, and “Grey”, each pair features a fully monochromatic execution, extending across the upper and for the first time in a New Balance model, a suede-wrapped midsole. This uniformity aligns directly with Ghost’s philosophy: camouflage not as a pattern, but as tonal continuity.

The choice of the NB 574 is deliberate. Long regarded as one of New Balance’s most accessible silhouettes, it becomes here a study in restraint and material depth. The suede construction introduces a tactile richness, while the subdued palette underscores the shoe’s versatility. It is a design that does not compete for attention but earns it through detail.

In comparison to the duo’s earlier collaborations such as the Legacy 574 or the 991v2 Ghost series, this release is pared back to its essentials. It prioritises uniformity over contrast, leaning more towards functional elegance than overt styling. For collectors and dedicated followers of either brand, it represents a natural progression rather than a dramatic shift.

Access to the release will be tightly controlled, with one purchase per customer and registration required. Availability will be limited, and sign-up does not guarantee a pair.
