Retailer-brand collabs have become a firm fixture within the sneaker industry, but now adidas is looking to leverage these partnerships a step further by creating the adidas Consortium Cup. The first-of-its-kind event kicks off on the 16th of February, and retailers from across the globe will battle it out by designing collaborative concepts. Fans can vote for their favourites every step of the way.
The competition follows a four-round knockout format, where each retailer will put its own spin on a specific silhouette. The round of 16 will see the stores reimagine the Gazelle, Samba and Superstar, before passing the baton on to the 3-Stripes’ Basketball division in the quarter-finals. The semi-final stages will see the retailers reinterpret adidas’ running styles, but the finale remains a secret for now.
The winning store will have its designs produced in limited quantities, so in order to back your fave, make sure you have an adidas CONFIRMED account set up and ready to go. Voting will be open for 48 hours every Thursday for the next few weeks.
With the UK facing tough times right now, this is just one way you can support our sneaker scene even if you’re strapped for cash, so be sure to check out the UK-based designs below and get voting for your fave!
