The Nike Air Max 97 is, hands down, one of the most iconic Swoosh sneakers ever made. Renowned for its streamlined silhouette and wavy design, this has all been channeled in Takashi Murakami's brand new Mr Bailey Sneaker, albeit in a much trippier fashion. Inspired by his famous 'The Simple Things' sculpture which made waves back in 2009 and continues to do so ten years later, let's take a closer look!
Originally made in collaboration with Pharrell Williams, 'The Simple Things' changed the world of art as we knew it. With its kaleidoscopic colours and avant-garde spikes, these have now been copy and pasted over to the Mr Bailey, and it's unlike anything you've ever seen.
With a wavy upper that's quite similar to the aforementioned AM97, it's painted in a blue, yellow, and orange colour palette that seems to subtly fade from one shade to another. Down below, you'll find an extra chunky Vibram rubber midsole that's equipped with 'The Simple Things'' teeth, and everything is tightened using a toggle switch system at the heel.
Takashi Murakami's Mr Bailey Sneaker is probably a one-off piece for the contemporary artist, and won't ever see a public release. Let us know what you think of this sneaker, and be sure to stay tuned at The Sole Supplier for the latest and greatest sneaker news and releases!
