Mention Chinese New Year to most sneakerheads and there'll instantly think of the inspired Nike exclusives over the years. The Oregon brand has a tradition for unveiling a series of their most popular styles re-invented as a homage to this annual celebration. 2019 will be no exception as yet another pack arrives with oriental detailing - and that includes the Air Max 98!
Two colourways are launching with uppers that pull inspiration from CNY releases of the past. Interestingly, these are also outfitted in Nike's funky "What The"; styling. Keen sneaker collectors will notice similarities with the 2009 Air Max 1 “Year Of The Ox” and 2013's Air Force 1 “Year of the Snake”.
Both pairs are adorned with a traditional Bai Jia Yi quilted pattern. This will provide the focus for the other shoes in the collection. If the look wasn't striking enough, pony fur is utilised to the mudguard and a set of patterned laces are included.
Take a look at the other Nike 'Chinese New Year 2019' colourways below and let us know your favourite in the comments section! Otherwise, stay tuned for release info as it comes though!
