Mention the name Sean Wotherspoon and images of a corduroy crafted trainer quickly come to mind. It was his Air Max 1/97 hybrid that won the 'Vote Forward' campaign, chosen to release as part of the 2018 Air Max Day celebrations.
Despite being released more than 6 months ago, that sellout trainer is still at the forefront of street-wear culture - you can't scroll too far on Insta before a hype beast is seen rocking that colourful style. Whilst it might seem like every influencer and their dog owns a pair, these were ludicrously limited. Most of you are no doubt still salty from not grabbing a pair. Thankfully, another release is on the cards, the same Air Max 1/97 sole-swap but this time sporting a blue colourway.
Sean confirmed that style last month and has recently taken to Instagram for another big reveal. Before you get excited, this Air Max 1 is a bespoke and won't be launching anytime soon.
Sean captioned the image:
"1 of 2 Bespoke Air Max 1 Corduroy Tear-Away to Liberty Fabric Floral ? Thank you SO much @nikesportswear @nikelab for giving me the opportunity to create some craziness! And thank you @mcfetridge for the inspiration! Every single panel tears off to reveal a different floral fabric under each one. Triple swoosh tongue was a no brainer, 2nd swoosh under the corduroy as well! ?? so hyped!";
A tear away Air Max 1 would be amazing but for now, you'll have to make do with the next Sean Wotherspoon x Nike Air Max 1/97. Take a closer look at that here.
