Breaking into the basketball shoe market is about as tough as the sport itself, but creating a shoe that can transcend the game to have a wider cultural impact is even harder. Given that B-ball classics have been trending for some time now, it makes complete sense for adidas to start pushing its division - and with it the launch of the adidas Crazy IIInfinity.
A far cry from classics like the Air Jordan 1 or New Balance 650, this buzzy new 3-Stripes shoe channels a much more modern look that looks to be influenced by some of the brand’s biggest collaborators. Though Yeezy’s ventures into the sport were less than successful, the brand still went on to launch models like the Yeezy QNTM into the wider market, and this pair kind of looks like a hybrid between that and some of the brand’s early Fear of God collab samples. That being said, the Crazy IIInfinity is actually based on the brand’s Crazy 1 silhouette - a model that was worn by none other than Kobe Bryant back in the early 2000s, and that was reportedly inspired by the Audi TT.
Teased in its FOG-like “off-white” colourway over on Instagram, it arrives in a chunky, moulded build, while a zipper shroud system adds a modern touch. As for a release date, the pair is set slated to arrive later this year, although Packer brand director Victor Kan’s Instagram post suggests it could be ‘soon’.
