What do you get when you cross two of the buzziest brands in the streetwear scene? Another high-heat collab, of course! And the Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 993 “Taupe” is exactly that. Having previewed and launched alongside the “Beef and Broccoli” pair last November, the “White Blue” Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 993 is set to re-release globally this month, so let’s take a closer look.
Of course, it can be argued that Aimé Leon Dore are part of the reason why New Balance are having such a moment right now. Having seen so much success from their past collabs, the Boston Brand brought in ALD Founder, Teddy Santis, as Creative Director during 2021. And it’s been a big year already for ALD too - their grown-up approach to streetwear recently earned them investment from the luxury conglomerate, LVMH. That means that the "White Blue" ALD 993 is probably just the start of the high-heat releases we'll see from the brands this year.
Starting off with a “Taupe” coloured suede base, the chunky dad shoe sees the colourway pay homage to New York’s most glorious graffiti days, borrowing tones that could often see decorating the sides of subway cars. This sees the Aimé Leon Dore 993’s “Taupe” colour give way to slate blue mesh panels on the toe box, ankle and heel, as well as burgundy detailing which skims across the mesh.
In true NB style, a “Taupe” “N” logo sits on the medial and lateral walls, atop a burgundy shadow for added contrast. A black New Balance 993 branded tongue matches the black sock liner and sole unit, whilst ALD branding decorates the heel and insoles.
The Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 993 “White Blue” is set to release globally on February 10. If you’re looking to cop, be sure to download our app and turn those release reminders on, as these will be super in-demand!
