Original Article: With a career as illustrious as Michael Jordan’s, a brand in his name is never going to be short of celebratory references, but that’s something that makes retro colourways so special. And, even when true retros aren’t quite on the cards, the brand still manages to keep things fresh and exciting by paying homage to classic pairs by switching up the colour blocking. For its latest release, Jordan Brand has dug into its archives to bring UNC colours to the Air Jordan 1, only this time it's arriving in a “UNC Toe” formation.

Boasting the signature colours of the University of North Carolina, the pair plays homage to MJ’s college days with this latest release. “University Blue” overlays dress the heels, ankle flaps and toe boxes, while black accents work their way around the toe caps, eyestays and collars. From here, crisp white side panels then come interrupted by solid black Swooshes, while the Air Jordan insignia and Nike Air branding hit the ankle flaps and tongue tab respectively. This all sits atop a white and blue sole unit that rounds the pair off perfectly.
