The Albino & Preto x Nike SB Dunk Low Unifies the Worlds of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Skateboarding

Just as unexpected as when it first landed on the radar around June, could this latest silhouette capture the hearts and minds of those outside the BJJ and skateboarding communities?

With heavy nods to jiu jitsu's uniform, the gi, this latest model features woven textile uppers complete with wear-away layering. A multitude of laces even arrive with the shoe, with each corresponding to the belt ranks within the sport - just don't wear black or red unless you're a serious savage on the mats.

Original article: After collaborating with Saucony towards the tail end of last year, many members of the sneaker world were somewhat surprised to see Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu brand Albino & Preto make its first foray into the industry, but it seems it's not planning on stopping anytime soon. Now Albino & Preto has joined forces with Nike SB to launch a unique woven iteration of the renowned Dunk silhouette.

For those unfamiliar with the Albino & Preto brand, it's a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu sporting label that was founded in 2011. While primarily known for making gis, rash guards and other BJJ-related gear, the label has sought to mirror the creative transitions associated with the sport on an industry level. With BJJ's continual rise in mainstream media, it was only going to be a matter of time before we saw the martial art branch out into other subcultures.

The collaboration itself sees the brand team up with Nike SB for what appears to be a unique take on the Dunk Low. Hemp-like canvas decorates the upper portion of this silhouette, complete with white stitching contrasting the "Sail" base hue. You can almost liken this aesthetic to the appearance of your run-of-the-mill jiu-jitsu gi. On the lateral and medial walls, Nike's Swoosh logo also appears in a contrasting black hue, complete with white stitch detailing, also. At the heel, Albino & Preto's "AP" signature can also be seen.
