If you’re not familiar with The Basement then you definitely need to check them out. Evolving from a Facebook group talking all things Supreme back in 2013 to now becoming a hub for all things fashion and streetwear, The Basement has evolved a lot over the last 10 years. This latest New Balance collab is the latest in a growing list of incredible collaborative efforts with some of the industries biggest brands.
Dropping in two colourways - “Day Chrome” and “Night Chrome” - the Basement x New Balance 1906Rs both stay true to the brand and offer two versatile options for any style. As the names suggest, both shoes consist of a chrome upper and feature a subtle debossed “BSMNT” detail, a detail which is close to the brand’s “If You Know You Know” roots. The collection also drops the usual lacing system of the 1906R, instead opting for a more tech focused toggle system which draws inspiration from hiking shoes. Lastly, if you’ve owned any of the prior BSMNT x New Balance releases you may be familiar with some of the small, trademark details of this collab, like swapping out the “N” for a “B” on the lace loops.
The first to drop of the pair is the 1906R “Day Chrome”. The chromatic upper on this pair is complimented by a silver mesh upper and matching off-white details on the laces and the iconic “N” logo, all of which sits upon a white sole. The “Night Chrome” however, offers a contrasting take, with black mesh panelling, dark laces and a black midsole, perfect for transitioning into those wet winter months.
