With great sadness, it was announced earlier this week that the Born x Raised Co-Founder Chris “Spanto” Printup passed away on the 28th following a car accident that took place on the 25th of June. He’s survived by his wife Anna, and his three children - Marilyn, Carter and David. Naturally, the loss of Chris has sent shockwaves through the worldwide streetwear community, with many friends and social media users mourning the loss of a true Los Angeles legend.
"Spanto" started the Born x Raised brand over a decade ago alongside his business partner Alex “2Tone” Erdmann. Existing as an ode to their Venice, California home, Born x Raised quickly found itself on an upward trajectory leading the brand to collaborate with some of LA's biggest franchises.
Later in July, the brand was set to release a highly anticipated rendition of Nike SB's famed Dunk Low silhouette, but given the circumstances, Born x Raised and the Swoosh brand have rightfully delayed the release of the shoe. It's unclear just at this point when the shoe and the accompanying apparel will release in the future, but for now, it should remain firmly on the back burner as Chris' family, friends, and associates come to terms with his tragic passing.
Rest in Peace - Chris "Spanto" Printup.
