Originally released back in 2002, the New Balance 2002R is experiencing a massive revival a whole two decades later. With ultra hyped collaborations and special edition releases under its belt such as the one from BAPE as well as the highly sought-after "Protection Pack", we're now taking a sneak peek at another upcoming partnership in the form of the Bryant Giles x New Balance 2002R - and here's everything that we know so far!
Teaming up with LA-based artist and designer Bryant Giles, his take on the classic New Balance silhouette is unlike anything we've seen before. Done up in an "Olive Green" canvas, Giles' signature multicoloured facial features are finely embroidered throughout the upper. The "N" logo along the lateral side is fastened using velcro, meaning you can mix and match to your heart's content.
Around the back, "What Now?" is very subtly stitched on the heel as a nod to his latest body of work that was showcased at the Miami Art Basel, and to round it all off, a custom piece is printed onto the insoles of the shoe, finalising the artsy design.
Not much else is known about the Bryant Giles x New Balance 2002R "Olive Green" right now, but rumour has it that these will land within the coming weeks. Let us know what you think of this upcoming collaboration, and while you're here, you might as well take your first look at the BAPE x New Balance 57/40 collection!
