There's no doubt in any sneakerhead's mind that the Air Foamposite One is one of the most iconic basketball shoes ever made. First introduced back in 1997, it features one of the most recognisable designs of all time, and now, Rei Kawakubo has unveiled her take on it with the COMME des GARÇONS x Nike Air Foamposite One - and we're taking our first look.
Spotted on the runways of the CDG Homme Plus Autumn/Winter 2021 runway showcase, the Foamposite One is available in two clean cut colourways including "Triple Black" and "Triple White". While the classic silhouette has been kept somewhat intact, the usual plastic shell has been completely reworked from the ground up. Bearing a striking resemblance to a fingerprint or even ripples of water, it results in an insanely unique aesthetic that only Kawakubo could pull off flawlessly.

Other detailed that are worth mentioning include a luxe leather lacing system, a carbon fibre plate and full-length Nike Zoom Air midsole, and of course, an oversized heel pull tab that comes complete with "COMME des GARÇONS HOMME PLUS" branding just underneath in all caps.
If all goes well, we should see the COMME des GARÇONS HOMME PLUS x Nike Air Foamposite One dropping sometime this autumn or winter. Let us know what you think of CDG's full revamp, and while you're here, you might as well get up close with the COMME des GARÇONS BLACK x Nike Zoom Talaria!
