Rei Kawakubo is certainly no stranger when it comes to Swoosh collaborations. After unveiling an Air Foamposite at the CDG Homme Plus Autumn/Winter 2021 runway showcase in January, the Japanese fashion icon has now applied her signature avant garde aesthetic to the often forgotten Nike Air Sunder Max with the COMME des GARÇONS x Nike Air Sunder Max!
A model that made its debut all the way back in 1998, the Air Sunder Max has since made a name for itself across a variety of obscure sneaker blogs and accounts. Renowned for its sleek and streamlined design, CDG has taken full advantage of this with three monochromatic colour schemes including a white and black one, a "Triple Black", and a "Triple White".
The uppers are crafted from a smooth leather while a zip runs across the vampe for the ultimate lockdown fit. Pull tabs are stitched onto the tongue and back for added convenience, while a Nike Swoosh is debossed along the lateral sidewall. Down below, a highly sculpted Air midsole is present complete with a visible bubble that harkens back to the OG design.
Expected to drop around this time next year in 2022, the COMME des GARÇONS HOMME PLUS x Nike Air Sunder Max might not be for everyone but it's still a must-have in our eyes! Let us know which colourway you're feeling the most, and while you're here, you might as well get up close with the KAWS x sacai x Nike Blazer Low!
