When it comes to footwear, Demna has always pushed the envelope. The Triple S aggressively remixed the dad shoe trend, while the Speed Trainer took laceless sneakers to another dimension. Now, the Balenciaga Creative Direct has arrived with another other-worldly model known as the Balenciaga Paris, and honestly, we're not sure how we feel about them.
Balenci is certainly no stranger when it comes to "ugly" trainers, but this seems to head to the other side of the spectrum. Bearing a striking resemblance to the Converse Chuck Taylor, the upper is crafted from a pre-distressed canvas construction that's unlike anything else out there.
In terms of colourways, there'll be cream, black, and red options that harken back to Converse of the past. There will also be high-top and mule models to choose from. Balenciaga is written on the front of the shoe, and the bottom is made of a vulcanised rubber for added traction with every step.
Pre-orders for the Balenciaga Paris are live, so make sure you get yours in if you actually want these. Let us know if you're brave enough to cop, and while you're here, you might as well take a closer look at the adidas x Balenciaga Triple S!
