As if 2021's sneaker release calendar couldn't get any more exciting, the Jordan brand has just unveiled official images of the Spring 2021 Retro collection, including a lineup of women's exclusive silhouettes.
That's right ladies, 2021 is set to be our year with the huge announcement that Nike will be releasing a selection of exclusive colourways created just for us. It's refreshing to see brands increasingly putting the spotlight on female-centred designs, with more and more women's exclusive colourways surfacing every season.
Included in the Jordan Spring 2021 drop will be the first women's Air Jordan IX. The iconic silhouette was first released back in 1993 after Michael Jordan's first retirement. This Jordan 9 takes inspiration from the OG design by Tinker Hatfield, with the words 'Change the World' across the pull tab on the heel. The colour palette is light and bright, with a fresh white upper and accenting shades of purple stretching along the sidewalls and around the toe. A pop of Volt brightens up the midsole and eye stays.
If you've ever tried to get your hands on a pair of Air Jordan 1 High OG's then you'll know the struggle to cop, there's a reason each release sells out almost instantly. The timeless design, paired with the premium fabrics, fresh colour palettes and backstory of the sneaker means this shoe has not only sustained but grown substantially in popularity over the years.
The classic design has allowed this particular silhouette to retain its icon status in the sneaker scene, promising unrivalled comfort with the plush, padded collar, Air-cushioned midsole and high-top design. As part of the upcoming collection, the Jordan Brand will be releasing three colourways, 'University Blue', 'Silver Toe' and 'University Gold', a mixture of dreamy pastel hues, shining metallic overlays and striking flashes of colour. Huge hype has already been building around these 2021 AJ1's, with the Silver Toe J remixing an older design from 2018, the 'Gold Toe', arriving with unique crinkle silver detailing.
The final notable women's sneaker from the pack is the Air Jordan 4 'Starfish Orange' that's inspired by spacesuits and the tech-style materials used. The University Blue Air Jordan 4 Retro is sure to be a fan-favourite, painted in the legendary UNC blue colour palette. Nike has switched up the classic design and replaced the typical leather upper with soft suede that elevates the look, a new style of packaging will also be used for this upcoming sneaker, set to drop in men's and GS sizes.
All silhouettes from the collection will be arriving in January 2021, which one will you be trying to cop? Let us know over on our @thesolewomens Instagram page and make sure you stay tuned to The Sole Supplier for the latest sneaker news and release date updates.
