The MM6 Maison Margiela x Salomon Cross Mid Is Actually Practical

Hot off the back of causing a frenzy with their latest thigh-high boot, MM6 Maison Margiela and Salomon are back to drop the next instalment of their ongoing partnership. Taking things back to basics, the duo has returned to their tried-and-tested Salomon Cross Mid - a mid-top version of the same style that Rihanna wore at the Super Bowl earlier this year.

Managing to put a high fashion, yet highly practical spin on the sneaker, the MM6 x Salomon Cross Mid is set to drop in two autumn-ready colourways, and its construction is well equipped to deal with the bad weather, too. Its mid-rise uppers come crafted from a waterproof ripstop fabric and arrive complete with a toggled fastening system, while the shoe’s sole unit looks to feature taped seams and chunky rubber treads, as well as added cushioning for a comfy ride.

While the Salomon x MM6 Cross Mid is still probably more suited to the Soho streets than any challenging trails, there’s no doubt that this style is infinitely more practical than the thigh-high boots, and definitely more suited to the upcoming weather than the upcoming collaborative XT-4 Mule as well.
