As we first heard last year, Nike is teaming up with Monopoly to roll out several versions of LeBron James' latest signature shoe, the LeBron 22. We've now got the official release dates for the two sneakers coming out this month.
While we knew about the shoe’s colours, Nike's official confirmation gives us a better look at the stories behind each pair. The "Currency" edition lives up to its name, featuring Monopoly money motifs on an Art Deco inspired base, capturing the game's unique style.
On the other hand, the "Token" edition sports a rich blue colour all over, taking cues from the Boardwalk and Park Place properties on the Monopoly board. Gold accents on the midfoot piping highlight the Swoosh logo and James' signature, possibly referencing the "Luxury Tax" section of the board.
And there's more! To celebrate Monopoly Day on 19th November, Nike has organised a big event. Middle schoolers at LeBron’s “I Promise School” will get to play a life sized, James themed Monopoly game, focusing on financial literacy through fun.
The Monopoly x Nike LeBron 22 collection will be released in phases: the "Currency" colourway comes out on November 15th, followed by the "Token" colourway on November 19th. Both pairs will be priced at £199.
