The New Balance 2002R has been on every sneakerhead's must-cop list for a while now. With a plethora of limited editions and special collaborations set to hit shelves very soon, we're now taking a look at a Gorp-inspired pair that quite literally has a secret up its sleeve.
While an official name has yet to be confirmed by the Boston-based footwear company, industry insiders have started calling these the New Balance 2002R Tech Pocket for pretty obvious reasons. In classic NB fashion, the shoe itself is crafted from a series of grey suede panels that offer up a vintage vibe. Light blue accents hit the italicised "N" logo along the laterals and medials, as well as the N-ERGY unit underfoot.
As per its name, a stash pocket can be found along the lacing system. Dipped in an orange hue, it's made from a water resistant nylon so the contents inside stay safe and dry. Of course, New Balance isn't the first brand to drop something like this. In fact, at the start of the year Prada and adidas reunited to release a selection of Forums that also featured pockets in this style.
Not much else is known about the New Balance 2002R Tech Pocket at this moment in time, though they're set to release in Japan on April 21st. A UK drop is expected soon after, so make sure you hit those purple buttons to keep notified! Let us know what you think of this upcoming colourway, and in related news, the New Balance 2002R Mule is the ultimate house sneaker!
