The New Balance 550 is having a hell of a time right now. With iteration after iteration being pumped out (but not in a bad way; we literally can't decide which is our favourite), and them selling out before you can say 'Steven Smith', you'd be hard-pushed trying to scroll through IG without spotting a pair. If you've not managed to cop yet, then stay tuned because there's lots more drops yet to come, including the super-retro New Balance 550 "Cream/Black".
Dressed in off-white tones that give the 550 that desirable vintage feel that's reminiscent of the early ALD pairs, there's no doubt that these will be highly sought-after on release. Black accents feature on the rubber outsole, around the large pebbled 'N' logo on the sidewalls, and around the ankle and heel, allowing for stark contrast on the upper that gives a more retro feel than previous "White/Black" pairs. No suede features on the toe box, as it does with some iterations, but the differing material used on the logo makes for an interesting design that suits the mesh tongue addition above.
New Balance branding is etched into the midsole under the invisible stitching, whilst '550' lettering is highlighted at the end of the lace unit. At the top of the tongue, New Balance's basketball logo sits pride of place, despite this sneaker's claim to fame definitely being in the lifestyle sector.
