The Nike Air Rift Is Making a Comeback Just in Time for Summer

The legendary Nike Air Rift is set to make a return this year and it’s coming back just in time for the summer! The split-toe sandal-esque sneakers have divided opinions of sneakerheads since they first launched back in 1996, acting as the first shoe to promote natural motion. While it was initially intended for runners, streetwear aficionados quickly picked up on the model.

Whether you love it or hate it, there’s no denying that the Air Rift is a classic. The split-toe style is inspired by traditional Japanese footwear worn by farmers and is a hell of a lot more comfortable than you might imagine.

Crafted from athletic mesh throughout, the uppers are totally breathable and leave a lot of the feet exposed, with a velcro fastening system making these one of the easiest pairs ever to slip on and off. Nike Swoosh branding is located at the forefoot of each shoe, while the split-toe tabi look adds a huge level of character to the silhouette.

The pair can also be fasted via an additional velcro strap at the heels, allowing for the perfect fit at all times. This all sits on top of an EVA foam midsole that provides all the cushioning and support you could ever want.
