We're only at the second month of the new year and the Beaverton brand has already announced two brand new silhouettes. After unveiling the GO FlyEase just this week, they've now taken the wraps off the Nike Cosmic Unity and it's quite literally out of this world. The latest sneaker to drop as part of its "Move to Zero" sustainability initiative, this may just change the game for good.
Rumours of this basketball shoe have been making rounds since January, but it's official now. Crafted from at least 25% recycled materials, the upper is made from a cable yarn while the sockliner, laces, and tabs are all built from ultra sustainable fabrics. Down below, you'll find an extra chunky Zoom Air Strobel that's partially made from rubber from the Oregon company's GRIND project. This offers up an insane amount of comfort and responsiveness both on and off the court.
Of course, you can't talk about the Cosmic Unity without mentioning the Nike Swoosh that shoots across the lateral and medial side panels. Done up with a unique marbled effect, it's sure to turn heads wherever you go.
"We asked ourselves a question that is guiding our process into the future: Can a product that makes the world better also make an athlete better?" explained Senior Creative Director for Performance Footwear at Nike Ross Klein. "We wanted to create a synergy between making the world better by what we do, but also leave an impact for athletes so that they can perform at a higher level."
Making its grand debut in a "Green Glow" colourway on February 26th, the Nike Cosmic Unity will then release in "Amalgam" and "Space Hippie" on March 7th and March 12th, respectively. Let us know what you think of this new basketball shoe, and in related news, the Stüssy x Nike Air Huarache from 2000 is making a comeback!
