With the Nike Zoom Vomero 5 redemption era firmly underway, more fresh colourways of the runner are arriving in quick succession. While a lot of previous models have sported somewhat safer colourways, this latest "Gundam" silhouette will look to shake things up a bit.
As the name might suggest, the "Gundam" draws inspiration from the famed Japanese media franchise of the same name, borrowing design notes from the show's Mobile Suits (or robots, to you and me). Dedicated Nike heads will know this isn't the first time the Swoosh brand has looked to the Japanese franchise for inspiration, having produced a coveted Nike Air Max 98 in 2018 and a duo of SB Dunk Highs in 2021.
This latest rendition bears similarities to its 2018 counterpart, embracing a close collection of colours. Atop a streaky midsole that mirrors scraped metal, we see a mix of mesh and synthetic layers work in unison to create the upper. Two distinctive red hues occupy the main panelling, contrasted by an armour-like shade of silver on the overlays. The collar receives a bright blue tint, with the famed Gundam yellow tint found on the tongue label.
It's unclear just when exactly we can expect to see the Nike Zoom Vomero 5 "Gundam" land at retailers, so be sure to set a release reminder below for all the latest! In other footwear news, the HUF x Nike Air Max 1 could be making a comeback.
