Even though Rui Hachimura has yet to play in a NBA game, he's still considered to be one of the best basketball players of the modern age. After teaming up with Jordan Brand earlier this year for his very own Air Jordan 36 colourway, the Washington Wizards power forward is now collaborating with the Michael Jordan-helmed label for the Rui Hachimura x Air Jordan 8 SE - and we're taking our first look yet!
Born in 1998 to a Beninese father and a Japanese mother, Hachimura's take on the Air Jordan 8 harkens back to his Japanese roots. Painted in an earthy "Twine" colourway, the upper is crafted from buttery smooth suede while premium leather straps run across the upper. Stealthy black accents add a pop of contrast to the shoe, while the tongue's swap out the classic Jumpman emblem for Hachimura's personal logo.
Japanese inspired detailing graces the ankle portion of the shoe, and down below you'll find a complementary beige Nike Air midsole. This all comes packed in a special edition box that features a ukiyoe-esque illustrations up front. This is finalised by Rui's Japanese name on the top left corner as well as a shogun graphic on the bottom left.
We're not sure when the Rui Hachimura x Nike Air Jordan 8 SE "Twine" will finally launch, so make sure you keep it locked at The Sole Supplier for more news as it develops! Let us know what you think of this collaboration, and while you're here, you might as well take a sneak peek at the CLOT x Air Jordan 5 Low!
