The Skepta x Nike "Bloody Chrome" Pack Will Be an Instant Sellout

Back in January we caught our very first glimpse of the Skepta x Nike Air Max Tailwind 5 "University Red". After almost half a year of waiting, the hotly anticipated collaboration with the British grime artist has finally been officially unveiled alongside a special surprise.

The sequel to the "Chrome Blue" that launched last month, the "Bloody Chrome" features a tie dye-like mesh upper and a design that's inspired by a butterfly's wings. Metallic silver accents grace the lateral and medial Swoosh which is borrowed from his previous Shox TL, while iridescent accents at the tongue and heel nod to the thermographic cover art from Skepta's 2019 album Ignorance Is Bliss.

Of course, you can't talk about this pack without mentioning the Skepta x Nike Phantom Football Boot which makes him the first music artist to partner with Nike on a performance boot. "I love the pressure when you call for the ball. When they pass it to you, you become the sole director of the next move for the team." explains Skepta.

"You’ve got a split second to decide, ‘is it good for me to keep this and show what I’m about or is it good to pass it and show that I’m thinking about all the players on the pitch?’ I love the culture around football as much as the game; I’m really into the culture of football jerseys for what they represent. They represent ‘team.’ Going to matches is sick too. When you go to a match, you experience live people, live audio, all the things that the TV might miss… you really feel it more than see it or hear it when you’re there."
