Winter is always a difficult time to be a sneakerhead, the harsh and unpredictable weather here in the UK can make wearing your kicks throughout the colder months a terrifying prospect. With rain seemingly around the corner at any minute, it’s quite simply not worth the risk if you’re thinking about rocking heat. Though there is one tried-and-tested solution to this problem - GORE-TEX. This liquid-repellent fabric was invented in 1969 by outdoor enthusiasts and in recent years has made its way onto several sneakers, although it's now about to appear on an Air Jordan 5, one of the greatest silhouettes to ever hit the market.
Titled the Air Jordan 5 GORE-TEX “Off-Noir”, the kicks showcase a colourway that’s reminiscent of the OG 1990 “Black/Metallic” release, along with hints of 2009’s “Raging Bull” variant. Black and grey uppers are crafted entirely from GORE-TEX, making them suitable for all conditions, while classic AJ5 design elements mean that these are still just as stylish as any other retro Air Jordan release.
Key details throughout the design include the Jumpman logo across the well-padded tongues, the AJ5’s signature lace lock system, and custom GORE-TEX embroidery onto the heels, pointing out the limited-edition and functional nature of this release. Finished with a black midsole that displays fighter-jet inspired teeth, this pair is ready to hit the streets this winter season.
As it stands, further details are yet to be confirmed regarding this release, although we do know that it’s set to release in women’s sizing only. Make sure to keep it locked in right here at The Sole Supplier for all the latest news and updates on this pair and many more, and while you’re with us take a look at this future classic AM95 release!
