The WTAPS x New Balance 992WT is the latest in a stream of 992’s to be launched to the public, and it certainly looks set to be a hit! The legendary Japanese streetwear label is one of the most respected in the industry, and when it announced a collaboration with New Balance both sneakerheads and hardcore streetwear fans were left eagerly anticipating a release date!
Known for its effortlessly-clean militaristic stylings, WTAPS has been around since 1993 and is headed up by none other than Tetsu Nishiyama, otherwise known simply as “Tet”. Pronounced “DOUBLE-TAPS”, the label is one of the pioneers of Japanese streetwear and was an instant hit when it first arrived on Western shores.
The New Balance 992 is dressed in WTAPS’ signature olive drab hue, while hints of beige, grey and safety orange also make up the well-rounded colourway. Dual-branding can be found at the tongue for a luxury collaborative touch, while the instantly-recognisable WTAPS typeface logo is proudly embroidered onto the heels.
If you’re as keen as we are on the recently-unveiled WTAPS x New Balance 992WT, the good news is that it’s set to arrive at a select few top-tier retailers on the 1st of May. This will certainly be a limited release, so if you’re looking to get your hands on a pair make sure you’re ready to move fast! If you like high-heat collaborations, check out the Travis Scott x Nike AM270 React that’s set to drop this week!
