If you’re into rare sneakers then there’s a fair chance you may have already heard of the Scarrs Pizza x Nike Air Force 1. The pair launched back in 2019 as a friends and family exclusive and were designed by none other than DJ Clark Kent, Scarr Pimentel (founder of Scarrs Pizza) and Audie Villot, an employee from the NYC-based eatery. Only 48 pairs were ever made and they’re regarded as one of the rarest AF1s of all time.
Despite this, the pair made the headlines late last year when they were supposedly found in an outlet store for just $60, although the authenticity of the story was never confirmed. In stark contrast to that price tag, one of the 48 pairs has just been auctioned off by legendary auctioneers Sothebys, and they raised a jaw-dropping $121,649 USD.
The pair were listed as part of a wider selection of curated items that was titled “Fine Watches and Rare Sneakers” earlier on this month. The previous owner was Paul Givelekian, a known sneaker reseller. They were also a size US11.5 and sold for more than any other Scarrs Pizza AF1 has before (prices are currently ranging from $13K to $14K).
If you’re liking the look of the Scarrs Pizza x Nike Air Force 1 then you’d better be seriously well connected and also have deep pockets, as they’re not easy nor cheap to come by!
