This CLOT X BAPE X adidas Sneaker Is a Shoe That Refused To Be Subtle

CLOT, BAPE, and the good people at adidas have strapped in for a three way tag team, dragging the venerable Superstar into the spotlight for a maximalist makeover. We already saw Edison Chen’s CLOT rework the shell toe as a sort of proper dress shoe, complete with a dramatic sole, but now A Bathing Ape joins the fray.

Our team got their hands on this upcoming pair and what we can say is the design team certainly crammed everything onto this classic plimsoll. CLOT introduces its signature Silk Royal motif, which immediately crashes head first into BAPE's instantly recognisable camouflage.

We see both of these loud patterns across the classic adidas signifiers: the Three Stripes branding, the heel patches, and even the star emblems. That foundation of polished, off white leather attempts a sophisticated contrast, yet it barely manages to contain the visual clash erupting around it. Let’s talk about the most divisive part of these sneakers: the base. This newest creation inherits the massive, chunky ripple sole seen on the previous CLOT Superstar.
