It's hard to believe its almost been two years since we found out Jerry Lorenzo would be joining the team at adidas, partly because the product output has been so low. While Fear of God ESSENTIALS and its mainline counterpart made waves through the industry, it feels like things might be a tad up in the air between Lorenzo and the 3-Stripe brand.
Just several days ago, Lorenzo and Fear of God took to Instagram to say they weren't involved in the latest adidas Basketball 'Remember The Why' campaign, and instead, the partnership has evolved into a "concentrated focus on the creation and development of Fear of God Athletics." With the Fear of God Athletics and adidas partnership set to launch sometime in 2023, we can't help but think this latest adidas Basketball apparel assortment has a distinctive Lorenzo vibe about it.
Oversized construction, boxy fits, neutral hues, and block logos - at first glance, this collection bears all the typical motifs you would find in any Fear of God ESSENTIALS collection, but instead, it's all adidas Basketball. Given the fact it no longer seems that Jerry Lorenzo will be leading adidas Basketball's creative and business strategy, we would assume that he actually had very little to do with this collection and, instead, may have just been a source of inspiration for the designers. Though nothing has an official date on it yet, we look forward to seeing what comes next from the adidas & Jerry Lorenzo duo. In other fashion news, the Drake NOCTA x Nike Air Force 1 "Certified Lover Boy" has a release date.
