Nike’s ISPA line has been around for several years now, offering a technical and utilitarian approach to design through eye-catching footwear silhouettes. The ISPA Drifter first launched back in 2020 and we haven’t seen much more of it since the initial launch, however a brand-new variation has just been unveiled by Nike Japan and there’s certainly more to it than meets the eye.
Decked out in a full indigo colourway, the pair is actually hand-dyed in Japan by a group that goes by the name of BUAISOU, who specialize in indigo crafting. The dyeing is completed totally by hand which means that no two pairs will be identical, and the pairs also display hand-stitched embroidery across the uppers for a traditional look and feel.
The uppers consist of a variety of fabrics including suede, mesh and canvas, with Nike Swoosh branding located on the toe box and ISPA embroidered onto the tongue and heel tabs, both of which are hand-painted white to contrast the indigo hues. Along with the stitched cross details, the midsole foam is also pre-distressed and then dyed in a plum colour, which once again is a unique feature.
If you’re looking to get your hands on the Nike ISPA Drifter “Indigo” then it’s set to release exclusively via Nike Japan on the 30th August and will retail for ¥60,500, which is the equivalent of just over £400.
