adidas’ Adizero line just sprinted into the spotlight, snagging first place at the Tokyo Marathon. Riding this winning streak, legendary Japanese designer Yohji Yamamoto has dropped his latest Y-3 collaboration with adidas’ performance running series, and it’s anything but a jog in the park.
Perfectly timed for spring and summer training, the adidas Y-3 Adizero Running collection is here to please both athletes and sneakerheads alike. On the footwear front, Yamamoto delivers daring, high fashion remixes of the Adios Pro 4 marathon racer and the Adios 9 training model. And who better to front the campaign than Tigst Assefa, former women’s marathon world record holder, rocking key pieces from the lineup?
The latest collection features a mix of colour palettes, premium ventilation, and adidas’ signature LIGHTSTRIKE PRO cushioning; all wrapped up in Yamamoto’s distinct aesthetic.
Captured by photographer Francis Plummer, the campaign highlights Yamamoto’s ability to merge high fashion with athletic performance. Assefa is seen wearing pieces from the collection, which emphasise functionality and innovation while bearing Yamamoto’s unmistakable design touch.
Both the Adios Pro 4 and Adios 9 incorporate lightweight LIGHTLOCK uppers. However, the Adios 9 forgoes the ENERGYRODS found in the Adios Evo Pro 2 in favour of a smaller stiffening element for added flexibility. Each running shoe features mismatched 3 Stripes detailing that contrasts with the collection’s otherwise tonal designs, while Made for Sport tags and Yamamoto’s signature adorn the left shoe heel, adding a distinctive finishing touch.
The Y-3 Adizero Running collection for Spring/Summer 2025 is now available on adidas.com. Keep following The Sole Supplier for all the latest from the world of running shoes and more.
