Union and Nike have had quite the collaborative run this year, with the iconic LA boutique turning their hand to a number of the Swoosh brand’s most famous silhouettes, including the fan-favourite Dunk and the Air Jordan 2, as well as the legendary Cortez. Having already dropped a couple of the latter, official images of two more Union LA x Nike Cortez colourways have started doing the rounds, so here’s what to expect from the upcoming pairs.
Celebrating Nike’s - and of course, the Cortez’s - 50th anniversary, the collaborative effort continues the pack's theme by sticking to the same construction and striped colour blocking as was seen on the recently released pairs. Arriving in both “Grey/Yellow” and “White/Yellow”, the colourful shades and intricate branded details are left to do the talking, whilst the canvas and suede base gives off a rugged, practical edge.
The Union LA x Nike Cortez “Grey/Yellow” sees the suede uppers come saturated in a muted, medium grey, whilst summer-friendly shades of yellow and pink take over the canvas side panels. From there, a bright blue hue splashes across the Nike Swoosh, with the shade also landing on the throat, tongues and heel tabs for an extra pop of colour.
The accompanying “White/Yellow” Union LA x Cortez sees the silhouette get a slightly more toned-down makeover, with a light beige suede base giving way to purple and red-dyed canvas. The red shade is reincorporated on the Union and Nike branding hits at the tongue and heel, but the famed Nike Swoosh sweeps across the shoe’s sidewalls in a yellow suede, which also dresses the heel panel to provide a contrasting base for the aforementioned red branding. Finally, both pairs come finished “UN/LA” tabs at the forefoot, and “Know the Ledge” wordmarks on the interior side of the tongues.
Now that the official images have seen the light of day, both pairs are expected to drop very soon, so be sure to hit the release reminders above for your best chance of copping, and keep it locked to The Sole Supplier for more info as it comes in!
In other news, a new Travis Scott x Jordan 1 colourway is set to drop next year.
