Despite sneakerheads assuming that Nike would slow down the Dunk releases after such a strong 2021, that doesn’t seem to be the case. Two new releases have been revealed which show off how effective Dunk colour-blocking can be when it’s done right. First up, we have the Nike Dunk Low “UCLA”.
Taking the collegiate theme up a notch, it has been unveiled that the Swoosh Brand will be releasing another varsity-themed Dunk Low, with the muse this time around being UCLA - the University of California, Los Angeles. This Bruins-inspired Dunk takes on the college colours in abundance; “Royal Blue” and “University Gold” dress the smooth leather upper, whilst a matching yellow lace unit does up the Dunk from top to toe. Taking a step back from the school’s colours, a white midsole completes the look adding some clarity to an otherwise colourful and bold sneaker.
In other news, it was also revealed that a “Gym Red” Dunk Low would be joining the line-up. Similar to that of the USC-inspired "Midas Gold" Dunks from last year, this red Dunk takes on a clean two-tone makeup, that’s offset with yellow accents at the top of the tongue.
Making its debut back in 1985, it’s no surprise that recycled colourways are the flavour of the month. However, it’s a nice opportunity for those who missed out before or are looking to upgrade to something fresh.
Which do you prefer? Are you brave enough to rock the bold Bruins colours, or will you keep it simple in the classic red-and-white hues? Let us know over on our Twitter page.
