In recent years, Grace Wales Bonner’s collaborations with adidas have consistently captured attention during fashion weeks. After breathing new life into the Samba, Wales Bonner continues to explore the adidas archives, creating new trainers that resonate with contemporary trends. Her latest collection, shown at Paris Fashion Week, features a number of new releases, including a remarkable three way partnership with Yohji Yamamoto’s Y-3 label.
Displayed in a showroom at Paris Fashion Week, the new collection includes at least nine new trainers from Wales Bonner. Two of these are confirmed to be a joint effort with Y-3. For this collaboration, Wales Bonner and Yamamoto have brought back the Y-3 Field Shoe, a foundational model for the Y-3 and adidas partnership first released in 2003. This revival of the Field Shoe arrives at an opportune moment. With the World Cup approaching, football inspired trainers are currently in high demand.
We saw two colourways of the trainer: one with a metallic copper finish, and a second in brown with royal blue and cream details. Both pairs feature mismatched Three Stripes, an extended tongue with Y-3 logos, and intricate stitching that reflects earlier Wales Bonner designs.
For her main collection, Wales Bonner has prepared a variety of trainers. One standout is a woven version of the Karintha. Other shoes include trainers inspired by bowling shoes from the early 2000s in cream, brown, and black combinations, an Adizero Adios OG in a tonal brown, and a football boot with a faux snakeskin upper. The collection also features two new takes on the adidas Gazelle, one in faux pony hair and the other in faux snakeskin.
The partnership between Wales Bonner and Yohji Yamamoto’s Y-3 is a noteworthy moment, uniting two of adidas' most significant collaborators. In addition to a range of accessories, including a bowling bag, this collaboration also brings back the Yohji Field Shoe, a low profile model with a small tongue flap. The collection also introduces a low profile, rope style silhouette that has a similar feel to mesh ballet flats from brands like The Row and ALAÏA.
The Wales Bonner x adidas Spring/Summer 2026 Collection will release in the first half of 2026 through adidas and selected retailers online and in store. While sizing and prices are yet to be announced, we expect these trainers to be at a higher price point. Want to snag these for retail? Simply smash that bell icon!
