Why Kim Kardashian's NikeSKIMS Air Rift Brings Split Opinions (And Toes)

The Nike Air Rift is suddenly everywhere and love it or hate it, we think it makes total sense. With balletcore and the whole “soft sporty” aesthetic dominating The Sole Womens' moodboards for SS26, the split-toe silhouette feels like it’s about to have a main character moment. It's the perfect shoe made for the in-between moments: post-class coffees, weekend errands, the walk home from the gym when your playlist hits just right.

Not won over yet? Bring in Kim Kardashian. Fresh off the announcement of the new NikeSKIMS brand, we now have our first look at their first footwear release - A trio of Nike Air Rift colourways.

First up, the NikeSKIMS Air Rift 'Archeo Brown' colourway. This muted shade of brown really nicely blends tactile mesh with tonal overlays, dialling up both texture and wearability. It’s sporty, sculptural and quietly luxe, everything we’d expect from Kim K’s previous eye for elevated basics.

The second of the trio of colourways is the NikeSKIMS Rift Mesh 'Velvet Brown' - This one's not really doing anything for us. The shoe itself is already going to split opinions (and toes, no pun intended) and this colourway is my personal weak pick of the bunch.

Arguably the nicest and most wearable colourway of the bunch is the NikeSKIMS Air Rift Mesh 'Black'. Whether you’re styling it with active sets or oversized tailoring, at least we're able to wear this with literally anything.

Nike might’ve pulled in a casual $8.5 billion from women’s apparel and footwear in 2024 (not exactly struggling), but let’s be real, brands like Lululemon and Alo are still tucking into Nike’s market share when it comes to owning the activewear conversation. Could Kim Kardashian really change the game for Nike? We're not sure, but happy to be proven wrong.
