Kanye West has been a busy bee in the design studio, it would seem, as six new Yeezy styles are set to drop in the coming months. “Styles” being the key word, this season, Ye has stepped away from sneakers once again and is dropping new colourways of the coveted Yeezy Slide and Foam Runner. Of course, Mr West wouldn’t leave the sneakerheads hanging, and the adidas Yeezy partnership is also going to drop some of their newer silhouettes, including the Quantum, 450 and 350 V2 in new-and-improved hues.
First up, we have the rumoured “spring” releases. Last year, the Chicago-born rapper shook up everyone’s work-from-home attire with the bestselling Yeezy slide. Inspired by Japanese outfitting, the Slide is crafted from a springy rubber with a thick midsole that delivers marshmallow-esque comfort. Branding is non-existent and the entire slide is kept plain – bar an adidas Trefoil logo on the sole – to let the silhouette do all the talking.
This season, the Yeezy Slide is set to land in two new colourways: the Yeezy Slide ‘Orange’ and the Yeezy Slide ‘Core’. Both equally as enticing, team these with some adidas socks and relaxed shorts and your post-lockdown outfit it sorted.
Also releasing in early spring is the adidas Yeezy Foam Runner ‘MXT Moon Grey’. One of Kanye’s newest (and arguably, most unique) silhouettes, this sneaker-slide hybrid cages the foot in flexible rubber and boasts breathable cut-outs to ensure optimised air flow. In all honesty, we don’t know if these are meant to be rocked with socks or not, the decision’s all yours! We’ve seen Kim K step out in these with and without socks, so make like Kimberly and switch up your style on the daily.
Following on from previous bright-and-bold iterations of the Yeezy Boost 700 MNVN, an equally lairy pair is set to drop in late spring/early summer in a ‘Bright Cyan’ colourway. Of course, the 700 logo will come in a reflective finish that’ll effortlessly stand out against the blue hue and the sole is fitted with adidas’ Boost cushioning for unrivalled comfort.
Quantum fans, rejoice! Because the Yeezy Quantum is back this month in a new ‘Sea Teal’ colourway. Complete with all the shoe’s signature details – like the high ankle, knitted upper and thick midsole – this sneaker is finessed with some of the comfiest cushioning you can imagine. So, set your alarms and mark your iCals, because this is one Quantum you don’t want to take an L on.
In recent weeks, Ye fans were treated to a brand-new silhouette: the Yeezy 450 in white. A knitted shoe with a caged outer that wraps around your foot, this sneaker instantly divided the sneaker community. But, adidas and Yeezy are confident in the design and the partners are dropping the Yeezy 450 in a ‘Dark Slate’ colourway. More wearable and less shocking now we’ve gotten used to the design, this particular sneaker is set to sell out fast when it lands in spring.
Finally, the iconic Yeezy 350 V2 is getting an update with a translucent upper that shows foam-runner-esque caging beneath. Designed to shape perfectly to your foot and deliver optimal comfort, this new take on the fans’ favourite silhouette is going to make waves one way or another. Set to land later in the summer, this sneaker has been teased in a white colourway, but here’s hoping everyone’s favourite black hue drops, too.
