What happens when you mix paint with sneakers?
Everyone loves a good custom sneaker, it's a beautiful craft that can bring an otherwise plain shoe to life (don't get us wrong – we love them when they're non-customised, too!). The most common sneakers to work on are the more minimal silhouettes; working with a plainer canvas leaves more room for creativity and allows the artist to use the base to it's maximum potential.
Recently, there's been a boom of custom sneakers. Designers creating "collaborations"; as they paint one brand's details onto a different brand's sneaker. The most well known are probably Nike and adidas silhouettes being made into Gucci-esque sneakers… We're talking lots of red and green details, snakes and hand written "it ain't Gucci tho";.
We had a little look through Instagram and picked out a couple of artists to share with you all. We love the playfulness, references, colour and creativity behind each idea.
