Melvin Tanaya and Lyna Ty’s Song for the Mute unveils its AW24 campaign with its fourth adidas collaboration starring the mid-noughties Adistar Cushion. As the Brand with the 3-Stripes continues to revive retro running shoes from the catalogue, the Australian menswear label delivers its artistic touch to reinvent the silhouettes’ designs. This Song for the Mute x adidas Adistar Cushion “Taupe Metallic Granite” merges modern-day materials with an old-school aesthetic to introduce a fresh look into the fold.
This streamlined running shoe flaunts a muted grey textile and mesh upper with metallic silver claw-like synthetic overlays. The mismatched 3-Stripes on the sides utilise varying fabrics for contrast, whilst rich suede materials cover the toe and the burgundy-like panel on the heel. An “SFTM-004” tag boasts a handwritten texture to achieve an old-school style, complementing the co-branded labels on the tongue. The dotted patterns on the rear are a tribute to the minimalist SFTM logo. Plush adiPRENE+ combined with traditional adiPRENE technology in the back side provides stable cushioning, shored up by a durable outsole. Spare brown laces let you switch the silhouette’s design, capping off the retro-futuristic ensemble.
