Caroline Hu x CLOT x adidas Samba Reverie Black Gum

New York-based designer Caroline Hu showcases her haute couture masterclass in this limited-edition collaboration with adidas and Edison Chen’s CLOT. After launching her eponymous womenswear label HU in 2018, the Chinese native found industry success when she won the 2019 Business of Fashion China Prize and earned a spot as a semi-finalist in the prestigious LVMH Young Designer Award. The Caroline Hu x CLOT x adidas Samba Reverie “Black Gum” reinterprets the OG colourway with premium delicate fabrics, embracing her signature contemporary aesthetic that often graces the runway.

Part of the designer’s “Reverie” collection for Spring and Summer 2024, this high-end Samba features a black textured silk upper, a welcome departure from the usual leather, suede, or nylon makeovers. The setup pays homage to the designer’s Chinese roots and culture, helping bridge Western and Eastern fashion traditions in a pair of shoes. Crisp white leather 3-Stripes and heel tabs bolster the silhouette’s lightweight structure, upholding its traditional detail. Co-branded logos animate the blue tongue tag, complementing the Ortholite sockliners. Below, the dark gum rubber sole offers traction on and off the runways. This colourway includes a special-edition shoe box to match the fancy ensemble.
