adidas Whitworth SPZL Grey

Introducing the adidas Whitworth SPZL "Grey" a groundbreaking addition to the adidas SPZL Pre-Spring 24 collection. After a rigorous sampling process, Aspden and the SPZL team finally chalk up this simple combination of ‘80s silhouettes to showcase the beauty of simplicity.

The Whitworth SPZL's neutral grey upper was meticulously crafted, with early prototypes tested on various toolings, including the Micropacer, Spirit of the Games, and Quesence. The final design features a Quesence tooling with a Treziod heel clip, striking a perfect balance between classic aesthetics and modern performance.

Drawing inspiration from vintage adidas runners like the Clipper, the Whitworth SPZL boasts toe overlays, a heel clip, midsole colour blocks, and a silver 3M tongue print borrowed from the ZX400. The absence of the 3-Stripes also draws the eye to the mixture of suede panelling, its old-school sporting aesthetic made obvious thanks to the addition of an aged midsole.
