Streetwear legend A BATHING APE once again sprinkles its magic on the iconic adidas Superstar. The Japanese brand has managed to beautifully balance stating its presence on the shoe whilst leaving all the classic markers relatively untouched. It’s not the first time that both brands have come together on this iconic tennis shoe. Previous editions saw A BATHING APE’s signature camo swallowing the upper, making for a loud shoe which would have been the standout piece in anyone’s outfit.
Yet this time they’ve taken a more toned-down approach. The black and white leather upper in combination with a beige shell toe seems like nothing out of the ordinary. The shoe’s side panels mix and match both the BAPE and three stripe branding without looking out of place. The gold BAPE dubrae and side panel lettering add an extra layer of class to the shoe whilst still remaining very streetwear.
The adidas trefoil logo on the heel tab has been replaced with Bapesta in the classic font, the type we were used to seeing on the Japanese exclusive pairs from the early 2000s. The gold trefoil logo we expect to see on the tongue has been swapped out for the APE face on one foot, with the other following the standard procedure.
If you fancy spicing up your Superstar rotation while keeping it classy then this pair can do exactly that. Tune in for more details here at The Sole Supplier for more info on the upcoming release.
