atmos x adidas Superstar Star White

Tokyo-based retailer and streetwear legend atmos has teamed up with adidas to deliver this take on the Superstar. This isn’t the first atmos x Superstar we’ve seen, with the brand and silhouette having a history that goes back to the 2010s with its glow-in-the-dark pairs. The Imprint is no stranger to a loud adidas collab, but you could argue the case that this “Star White” pair takes a toned-down approach.

In terms of the colourway, atmos has kept it simple by using the classic cream sole and shell toe that is part of the silhouette’s DNA. A “White” leather upper allows the perforated stars to shine (pardon the pun) without going overboard. Extending the mini print pattern that the shell toe is known for, the rest of the upper mimics this with its all-over “Star” pattern. Another famous adidas pack that used this maximalist design was the City Series collection from 2005 which celebrated the silhouette’s 35th Anniversary. Instead of the shoe paying homage to a particular city, the pattern uses a literal “Star” dedicated to the name of the iconic silhouette. Inside is where you can spot the atmos co-branding, a Trefoil logo replacing the “o” in the brand’s name, similar to how it was used to represent the heart symbol in the City Series pack. The white premium leather and gold adidas branding which can be seen on the upper is just a final indication of the shoe’s collaborative quality.
