After taking on several New Balance icons like the 99X series and trail models like the NB 610 and Rainier Boot, Joe Freshgoods shifts his creative expertise to this late ‘80s basketball sneaker.
The Joe Freshgoods x New Balance 650 “Stuntman”, is an ode to 'someone special' who wore a pair of all-white New Balance basketball shoes in a Life Magazine photo shoot in 1984. This 'special' person turned out to be Michael Jordan, who as we all know, went on to sign with another brand.
The shoe has a mix of sail white and grey tones to achieve a pre-aged aesthetic, while signature N logos are on the sides with JFG branding on the lateral forefoot. Shaggy suede overlays adorn the heel strip underneath the collar for additional design details. More sail white accents appear on the midsole, while the grey rubber outsole rounds out the neutral-toned makeover of this collab. The shoe is extremely limited, with only 500 pairs in existence, all individually numbered on the inner tongue.
